NLar Way and beSaPaw were the first refugees the Army Of Good helped five years ago. We got them both through high school and ensured they had the computers they needed, the food they needed, the clothes they needed, and the tuition they required. They are great friends and were admitted to Russell Sage College in Troy, New York.
They were both refugees from Asia. They were the first refugee camp children that I met.
Yesterday, they graduated. Sue Silverstein, their unofficial guide and godmother, got them through it al, watched over them,d encouraged them,m and held their hands on their often challenging journey through high school and college.
“I am so proud of these amazing young women,” Sue said yesterday. I am also proud of them and all of you for sticking with them and getting them a college degree and a good life. They suffered a great deal, but they can take it from here.
They are awfully nice and kind people.
Sue is correct. They both are amazing women, devoted family members, remarkable students, and friends. They worked just as much as they suffered. I can’t wait to hear more news of their rebirth in America.
Thanks again; this is a big deal.
