If I had to name two things that altered my life and turned it into a better way, it would be silence and thought. I read these comments about those two things this morning; they are by author Joan Chittister, who has become one of my favorite sources of spiritual thought and inspiration. The comments below are all hers.
The flower photos are mine.
Joan Chittister:
“Two things are disappearing in modern society: the first is silence, and the second is thought. Not necessarily because people don’t believe in silence and thought anymore, but because there is no time for them.”
“Chaos has become the order of our lives. We have a rather broad idea of tomorrow: keep the appointments, drive the kids to practice, get groceries, throw in the wash, do a few things around the house, and go to bed early so we can start all over again the next day.
We are generations on the move, running in circles, trying to break out of the race. But only two things can get us off the merry-go-round, silence and thought. Except that there is no time for them.” –

Joan Chittiser words regarding “silence and thought” becomes more important everyday. We are surrounded by all kinds of noise.
We must both reflect and make those thoughts a part of our own lives.
The following is an important “thought”:
“Let us try to recognize
the precious nature
of each day.”
