Minnie’s Back On The Porch Until November. She Knows How To Survive

by Jon Katz

Minnie has moved her Spring residence out of her heated cat house in the basement and back on the rear porch and her other hideouts – the top of the woodshed and the haystack in the pole barn.

Once she goes out, she won’t want to come back in until winter is creeping back or the temperature drops to freezing.

In the morning, she loves to lie on her back while leaning against the house. She is very fond of the sun and always finds it.

She charges through the front door and passes the dogs to the basement door when she wants to come and get warm. Bud will chase a cat if he can but doesn’t chase Minnie.

Minnie is a happy cat again; she has the back porch all to herself with Flo gone, she goes wherever the sun is and sleeps on a chair on the back porch at night unless it’s raining, then goes to the barm and sleeps on a haystack.

She is a barn cat; she knows how to survive and even gets a mouse now and then.

Winnie is sixteen years old and has lost a leg to a predator. She has earned the right to sleep anywhere she wants on the farm.

Minnie’s daytime thrones:  Maria has placed blankets everywhere.
