Maria’s magnets are all near my front car door; only one is missing – a Robin magnet. I didn’t think it fit with the others. I find this new image almost painfully beautiful and simple.

Note: The doctor we saw this morning said the healing of the wound was “fabulous,” it was healing beautifully. There are bandage problems, so we are returning to Saratoga for a new one. The stitches are coming out in two weeks.
We had a wonderful time returning to the Mansion. Maria led an art class, and I took photos and helped out. It was a joy to return; the residents were almost as happy to see me as they were to see Zinnia. I’ll post some photos when I get back.
Wonderful news about your rapid healing, Jon! An encouraging word: My Dad lost a big toe in a motorcycle accident as a young man. He trained himself to compensate – even ice skated without the support of the missing digit- and didn’t limp, either. You’ll do great, especially with the crew you have in your corner.
You never cease to amaze and inspire me with all the generous and compassionate things you and Maria do. And as a fellow journalist, I can’t imagine how you manage to produce such beautiful, honest, in-depth prose in the course of your busy, complex days.
