I’ve been thinking all week about getting presents for the nurses in my surgical podiatrist’s office who have been so good to me and worked so hard to keep my toe. It didn’t work out, but I am deeply grateful for their love, warmth, and encouragement.
They were disappointed by my decision to amputate the toe but were always graceful and helpful to me. We’ve been at this for a couple of years; it’s time…
They understand it was not a failure on anyone’s part.
I went to Bennington’s beautiful chocolate factory and got boxes of freshly made fudges, pretzels with orange peels, and chocolates with jelly or peanut butter.
We’re going to Dr. Daly’s office early Monday for the final clearance meeting and then to my primary care nurse Amy to go over medications and the strong painkiller (prescription Ipuprophen) I’m told I will need for a few days after the surgery.
A chocolate factory is a fantastic place, I forget it was Easter, and it was mobbed. I’ve been bringing the nurses amish cookies and cases; this will be a thank you that will make me feel good. I don’t expect to be seeing them as often after the operation. They really hung in there with Maria and me.
Jon, when you deliver the fudge and chocolates to the nurses, are you going to be dressed like the Easter Bunny?
Best wishes for you when you have your toe amputated.
🙂
Chocolate raspberry fudge? Oh, my. The nurses will be thrilled with their gift, I’m sure! 😊
