Plants For The Mansion Memory Care. Ghosts Of Covid – Laid Low This Morning

by Jon Katz

There is a new resident at the Mansion’s Memory Care Unit whose love in life is caring for flowers.

So I went out and bought some at Country Products, and I’ll bring to her in Memory Care and take a picture. This is the kind of work I most love to do.

These are hardy plants, and the aides say she will take loving care of them; she remembers  doing very well in her love.

This morning, I woke up to another one of those intestinal virus attacks – nausea, vomiting, and intestinal disturbance. I slept for hours in the morning, very rare for me.

My doctors say this is a legacy of getting Covid a few months ago. The immune system is weakened in people my age for several months at least. I’ll be prone to various bugs and viruses.

It’s a few hours since it started, and I feel significantly weakened and dehydrated. I’m drinking lots of water and eating some bland things – rice and peanut butter.

I feel better but weak, and I’ll be doing a lot of resting, reading,  and blogging. My primary says this Covid side effect goes away in time, and it has already gotten less frequent and less severe.  I expect to be writing all through it.

  1. Hi Jon,
Glad your covid related virus episodes are less frequent . . . a blessing! I too had long covid with additional intestinal and sinus infections but feel – at 8 months out – that I am about recovered and just now getting my old spark back. Take good care and best wishes on your surgery and recovery. Judy T. 🙂
