Fate Wears Us Down, Melts Our Hearts, Turns on The Charm. We Caved And Let Her Outside, No Running

by Jon Katz

Fate has been pissed off about not getting to work; this afternoon, she turned on the charm and melted our rights in short order. We struck a compromise,

Maria let her go out with her to feed the sheep and donkeys, but she couldn’t come inside the pasture. She had to sit at the gate.

She obeyed but didn’t like it. Neither did Zinnia, who had greatly enjoyed being the top dog in the pasture for a few days. Fate is inside now, sulking quietly.

She sat by the gate, complaining a bit, hoping for a chance to get in and run.

Border collies are always complicated. The two sat outside the fence and glowered, and then she came back in. She is sleeping quietly and not limping at all. The bandage stays on.
