Maria wrote a neat piece on her blog yesterday called Valentine’s Day Trees about how Valentine’s Day, which we don’t really celebrate, caused her to look for trees that seemed to be in love with one another out on her woods walk yesterday.

I don’t know anyone other than Maria who would think of that.

I thought of that when I looked up at my blue sky and saw our apple and our birch tree engaged in intense conversation.

Could they be in love, they’ve been close neighbors for more than a century. Perhaps they were celebrating Valentine’s Day as well. Or the lovely blue sky above them.
