Happy Valentine’s Day From Us At Bedlam Farm. This Is A Holiday The Country Could Use Right Now

by Jon Katz

I want to wish you all a Happy Valentine’s Day, it’s not a holiday we take very seriously here, but we are pleased to celebrate the idea of love.

Our country could use this holiday right now as we hunt one another down for ideological impurity.

Our dogs know of love and show it to us every day. I thank them.

Perhaps today, we can focus on loving each other for a few hours or a day. Maybe it will catch on, a new kind of healthy pandemic.

I’m heading to the Mansion for my Meditation Class and will return to try my new leg brace. I have high hopes for it.

My flowers and photos have shown me and taught me another way to love and share love. I thank them on Valentine’s Day.

When I think of love, I can’t help but think of Maria, who has loved me and taught me what love and joy mean. I love her dearly, and I thank her for existing and loving me back. I never feel as if I deserve it, but I am grateful for it every second of my life.

Thanks to my blue sky, who shows up every day for me, even when I can’t see it.

I call this little spider Harry. I used to kill spiders when I found them inside the house. I don’t anymore.

He’s welcome to hang around the bathroom and eat flies and mosquitoes.

I think of love as contagious; the more I do it, the more other people might do it.

    1. Spiders are very useful for many reasons. There is no reason o kill them. He will stay as long as he wishes. And please mind your own business (read the blog) I didn’t ask for your approval and don’t need it. Happy Valentine’s Day to you. There is no spider in my house that is nearly as dangerous as a human being. They don’t kill for no reason.

“Spiders are beneficial predators and serve a significant role in keeping populations of many insect pests in check. Spiders are oftentimes the most important biological control of pests in and around homes, yards, gardens, and crops.”- Wickipedia

  1. Harry is one lucky fella. He picked the right farm for his own spinning fiber art and pest-gathering work.
Happy Valentine’s Day! This is a great day to handwrite cards with little treats, and deliver them to the elder women and the single moms on our street. Nobody expects it. But every woman is beautiful and deserves to feel fussed over, and being the doorstep Valentine Bunny is really fun. It appears that you and Maria spread the holiday out over the year, and that’s a cheering thing to see.

  2. Happy Valentines day to you, Maria and all the animals too. So much Love there. The only spiders I don’t like are Brown Recluse and Black Widows.
