Bishop Gibbons Photos Class Needs Help: Vintage Clothes For Photo Project

by Jon Katz

Sue Silverstein and the Bishop Gibbons photo class need your help. They need old and discarded clothing.

They want to model for one another, wearing vintage clothing in adult sizes and photograph one another. They are asking anyone with old clothes or family members with old and unused clothes to send them to the class for their photo project and competition.

Sue and Maria, and I will be the photo judges.

In Sue’s words, here is what they need; no one can explain it better than she does; it’s another of her beautiful ideas for her engaged and excited photo students.

Sue: “If anyone has costumes or vintage clothing in adult sizes that they want to rehome, our photography class would love to use such items. The students are learning about portrait photography, and having some exciting and interesting models will make it that much more fun! Star Wars? Harry Potter? Aliens? Character Costumes? How about those vintage clothing items or hats you no longer use? We will post the completed photos so all can enjoy the fun! Thank you for all your help every day! We are blessed to have such an Army of Good Behind us here at Bishop Gibbons.”

The address:  Sue Silverstein, Art Program, Bishop Gibbons High School, 2600 Albany Street, Schenectady, N.Y., 12304.

Because of your help, Bishop Gibbons and their art teacher have one of the most exciting art programs anywhere. And we know these kids will love to dress up in old clothes and photograph each other.

Sue isn’t fussy. Anything old will do. She’s flexible; without your help, this can’t happen.

The students are into it; her classes are full and overflowing, and students are working at art till dark and making all kinds of clothing, jewelry, paintings, and sculptures.

Sue has told me many times that she couldn’t have done any of this beautiful stuff without your support.

I hope we can get her some vintage clothes for the photo class. She hopes to launch this assignment in a week or two.

I hope we can help; we always do. This sounds like great fun. Again, the address is sue Silverstein,  2600 Albany Street, Schenectady, N.Y., 12304

  1. I am a vintage clothier with some EXCELLENT pieces that I was going to donate to my animal rescue thrift. My father taught photography and would want me to help the students. I am away from home for a week but when I return I will ground ship a VERY large box of very nice items!! You can expect delivery the first week of March. I am so happy to have found a worthy recipient. These are some really great dresses!! Blessings.
    Vintage best,
