The Meaning Of Flowers On A Winter Day

by Jon Katz

Happiness held is the seed, happiness shared is the flower   — John Harrigan.

Thanks to my photography and my raised garden beds, and the many beautiful messages I receive from you about sharing pictures of them, I am coming to understand the power and meaning of flowers. We need them, they do us a lot of good.

For most of my life, I missed this. Gardening was something women did to spruce up their houses. I didn’t realize that it was something deeper, something significant to people, and now, better late than never, to me. I was about that, and I have gotten my humbling.

I am so grateful I got those raised garden beds and held the seeds. I am so thankful to spread some happiness by sharing them.

As I called them, the garden people rushed to my side, telling me the proper names and offering me advice I badly needed. My camera did the rest; they brought me into the very soul of flowers. I get it now, and thanks. This is a community, one I am very happy to join.

  1. Such beauty, warms the soul. When I look on the left it looks like an angel! Long flowing pink train, hand raised towards the heavens. I believe this was a special message from the heavens for me (our friend who has made safe passage home today).
