My Blue Sky was waiting for me this morning, and so was the sun. It turned out to be a beautiful day, a taste of Spring, even though we knew we had plenty of winter left. Still, it was a special day, and I enjoyed it.
I had to go to Saratoga Springs to see a doctor and stopped at Moby Fish, my favorite fresh fish store, to get some clams, fresh-cut salmon, jumbo crap bits, fish cakes, crab cakes, and some frozen lobster meat.
We will eat very well for the next two days. Maria loves salmon and fish cakes. Crab meat is my favorite food in the world. Maria is at her belly dancing class, I’m making a salmon cut for her and steaming a dozen clams for me. Fresh spinach on the side.
The animals are happy about the warmth; they spend the whole day sunning themselves in the pasture near the feeder. The ground is muddy from the melting snow (rain tomorrow). They were happy to graze on the snow, the remnants of the hay we put out during the cold night from Hell. They do get anxious and even irritable in the very cold. It’s nice to see them so calm again.
I had no trouble finding the sun today; it put on a show for me inside and out. I love the windowsill gallery that Maria has put together. The sun on the plants is always touching to me.
The previous owners of the farmhouse loved grain painting. We left all of it as it was when we came. It adds exceptional warmth to the old house, and the reflections through the winds are always beautiful in the late afternoon.
The light at dusk was beautiful, a soft blue, and the sun danced behind a cloud. I’m excited about Spring. All the ice will be gone n a day or so; it will be in the 50s on Friday.
I know the winter is not nearly over and will come back to bite us a bit. That’s the natural way of things. Winter makes Spring shine and sing. I’m planning my raised flower beds.
I love both of my cameras, but only the Leica can take a picture as soft as this. More later, I’m going off to read a mystery now. It cools my head off.
