We have a surprise ice storm another one of those that makes the roads dangerous and covers the farm in a sheet of ice. The photo above is of the apple tree in the back pasture as the ice and rain began to mix. That’s what it looked like.
Liam looking out over the pasture in the ice and snow.
We have a cold week coming up, and it seems likely to warm up for a while. The sheep and the donkeys could use a break. We’re giving them some grain and second-cut hay, which is what the vets and our sheep-raising farmer friends recommend for giving the animals some energy during the cold days.
We’ve done this for 15 years and it’s a good practice. We’ve been blessed with healthy animals except for the four rescues we had. Three of them didn’t last too long. They were an awful mess when we got them.
Tomorrow, the dentist is in the morning; I have the rest of the day to myself. I see my Meditation Class on Friday; the weather is making it hard to get out to Bishop Gibbons this week.
So glad the sheep weren’t sheared in the fall this year. They look comfortable in their blankets of wool.
They were sheared in the fall, as they are every year, ledge, their wool grows back in plenty of time for winter…
excellent photo of Liam and the trees…and ice. beautiful.
For all my espousing floral colors, it seems to be your monochrome photos that speak to me the most, Liam looking backwards, wow, an outstanding image.
Thanks Sharon though that was a color photo
