Maria was very happy to discover a small and dirty egg in the roost of the Imperious Hens. She came running up to show it to me. Then she put it down on the porch while she went to feed the animals. She was very happy to discover it.

She did not notice that Zinnia was paying close attention to the egg when I took this photo and when she put it down.

When she returned to collect it for breakfast, there was no sign of it. I can’t blame Zinnia; it was lying on the ground, fair game for any self-respected Lab.  Zinnia looked at me and wagged her tail. She was pleased too. I did notice a bit of shell hanging off one of her jowls.
