“The Doga Lisa,” A New Painting From Six-Year Old Granddaughter Robin

by Jon Katz

Nothing in my life seems to happen in a straight line; I live in the kingdom of curves. I’ve often written that I can’t do most of the traditional grandfather things, Robin isn’t the best thing that ever happened in my life, and we are not an integral part of each others lives.

But we are finding a way to communicate and discovering common ground and here I am posting her paintings and Emma’s photos of her. Sounds like a proud grandfather to me. I love her latest creative work, a painting of a dog inspired by an image she saw online.

Robin, like her mother, is a creative, and we are learning to connect and communicate in that way. Brooklyn is a special place, the kid’s at Robin’s school don’t spend a lot of time online.

Robin wanted to paint a scorpion, but that didn’t work. I think this one did. This painting is called “The Dog Lisa.”

  2. That is an awesome painting! Move over Mona, Dog Lisa needs her space! Robin has a good eye for perspective for being so young. Thank you for sharing!
