Maria and I spent the afternoon at Bishop Gibbons High School in Schenectady, visiting the artists in Sue Silverstein’s excellent art workshop. We were there for more than two hours, and I decided the focal point of my visit ought to be taking portraits of the students and the excellent work they are doing, thanks to the donations of materials and discarded objects many of you sent to them.
I wanted to celebrate their outstanding work by taking portraits; you might enjoy seeing a small slice of what you have done for them.
It’s well into the evening, and we are both pretty tired. I’m just going to put up five photos from today, more tomorrow, and later in the week. I have a lot of beautiful portraits of young artists showing their work, and each deserves a moment in the sun.
I love doing portraits, and I especially love taking pictures of young artists; you can see the creative spark in their eyes.
Sue has done fantastic work with her art program; it could not have been done without the supplies you sent.
I’ve got some portraits here, more in the morning. I’m bushed. We stopped and got takeout dinners from Korean and Indian restaurants in Latham, N.Y. Great food, icy roads.
Maria and Wolfgang work together to thread a needle on the new sewing machine we brought.
Sue Silverstein doesn’t mess around. People have sent her beads from around the country (and Paris), and the kids love figuring out what to do with them. Bead Art is hot in the art club.
I’m not using names because I took so many pictures. I’ll be putting some up tomorrow and the next day. These kids deserve a moment in the sun.
The Queen of Chill was a rock star; she was mobbed to exhaustion (after cajoling some treats and bits of lunch). Finally, she crawled beneath my chair and went to sleep.
More tomorrow; I’m done for tonight. It was a wonderful afternoon.
so healing/uplifting for me
deep thanks
Thanks, Jon, for all your uplifting postings❣️
