Maria woke up excited this morning but refused to tell me what she was working on. Like many artists, she’s superstitious and believes talking about her work too early will jink it.
This afternoon, she called me up and said she was ready for me to take a video and show her progress. I was invited to her studio. We have a lot of fun making these videos; as a former TV producer, I am always surprised by how at ease she is in front of a camera.
The camera loves her back, as we used to say in TV land.
She is very excited about the hanky scarves she makes from vintage hankies and her recipe for adding stains and colors. They will be wonderful.
We did a video, and she can explain it much better than I can. I love to go in there and see what she is cooking up. It’s never still between those ears. Come and see for yourself:
Fascinating. The light shining through the windows onto Maria’s clothes looks as though she is wearing the hankies. same shape in squares of light. A serendipitous coincidence!
