Flower Therapy, Thursday, December 29. Thanks For Loving These Photographs.

by Jon Katz

I went to the nearby town of Greenwich to have lunch with a friend.

While there, four or five people – including one in the parking lot – stopped me to thank me for posting my flower photos in the winter. They all said it meant a lot to them.

This is a surprise to me.

My blog is national, not local, and I don’t sense it is all that well-read around here, although I don’t know for sure. I never look at the location stats, and people rarely recognize me on sight. I was surprised to learn so many people were reading the blog now and to see how much the flower photos mean to them as winter descends and shows its teeth.

I was proud and pleased; this meant a lot to me. The flower photos were a landmark in my work as a photographer; they were the first actual demonstration of the power and range of my cameras – the Iphone 13 and the Leica Monochrome and two. All those Zoom lessons paid off.

The Leicas have forced me to understand the workings of the camera much better, and the color and detail rewarded this work in many of the flower pictures. In addition to the people who came up to me yesterday and recognized me, I am getting many e-mails thanking me for those photos.

The I phone photos are wonderful, I’m grateful.

So thank you, I  am humbled, and I will keep them coming. Stay warm and safe; color is the language of nature. My seeds for 2023 are already arriving in the mail.
