My visit to the Mansion tomorrow has been canceled. The primary Mansion residence and the Memory Care unit are off-limits to outsiders for a week or so. I rushed to Memory Care to give Kim Dooley, the assistant activity director there, her Christmas present, two orange-scented candles, her favorite candle scent.
I put my mask on, dropped the candles on the ground, and stood back. They will do everything they can to keep the residents apart, even through dinner.
Kim was hanging in there with the Memory Care residents, smiling and organizing games and crafts. The staff there risks illness and gets sick often; everyone understands that somebody has to stay there. They are amazing people.
I like the sign in the Mansion window. It’s so simple you wear a mask I wear a mask and we protect each other. What’s so hard about that????????
