It seems I have a new reading partner. When I sit in my favorite chair by the wood stove fire, a Boston Terrier hops up into my lap and goes to sleep.
He is warm and soft and snores once in a while, but we have become accustomed to one another. I used to shoo him off my lap, but I like it, especially in the winter.
He would never have done that the first few years he came, he was afraid of men. He is certainly not afraid of me any longer. Zinnia is usually asleep on the floor in front of me when I read, with her head on my foot.
I am a new fan and follower….I just finished A Dog Year and loved it, the first of many Jon Katz books I will be reading. I have done animal rescue for about 25 years, mostly feral cats/kittens and fostering. I’ve done some dog fostering and adoption of old dogs that need a safe place and medical care. I look forward to catching up with you and your dogs through your books. They are filled with reality, both good and bad, and a wonderful sense of humor and devotion. Thank you for your work.
Read Saving Simon (about a donkey), one of his best
Every book he’s written is a winner.
I have a whole rack of them by my potty & I read them over & over & over & …
My memory is terrible so there’s always something new.

Jon, I agree with the other comments. Your animal stories are wonderful, warm, witty and heartfelt. I have often wanted to go back and reread but I always give them away to share so need to get from library. Anyway I was thinking they would be a wonderful addition to the Mansion activity room. They could not help but brighten the residents lives!
