13 December

Photo Journal, December 13, 2022. Zero Degrees, Beautiful Day

by Jon Katz

It was a bit below zero this morning, the coldest day since January.

When it gets this out, the sky is especially clear and beautiful, and the apple tree in the pasture looks like a good witch dancing to me.

The ground is too cold for the animals to stand on, so they gather at the end of the Pole Barn to catch some sun.

It’s going to be cold all week.

I’m heading to the Mansion for my weekly meditation class, one of the week’s highlights. Weather permitting, Bishop Gibbons on Thursday,  big storm on Friday.

The hills are covered in mist.

The ground is too cold even for the donkeys; they all gather by the Pole Barn doors to catch some sun. They’ll get some grain today to keep warm.

  1. This photo of the apple tree is spectacular. The blues, whites and blacks are my favorite parts of the winter landscape.
You always have some stunning examples! I’m loving the flowers, too, that warm me instantly and make me smile.
    Thanks !!
