We got an unexpected snowstorm this afternoon, just after we got back from lunch.
A breakthrough for me, I had a veggie panini for the first time in my life – eggplant, mushrooms, and all.
A big step forward, I’m trying new foods I’ve never eaten. These childhood habits can last a lifetime.
We are holed up in the farmhouse. Animals fed, wood stoves burning, chickens in the roost, and dogs walking and dozing; Maria even got a walk in the woods to take some videos.
I have some important things to write, so does she, and we both have good books to read. I’ve got a fresh cup of hot tea to drink (ginger), and we have a Marguerite pizza from Shift for dinner.
I have one more week to stomp around in my surgical boot. I see the doctor in a week or so. I got boots on for my first round of snow photos. There will be more if it keeps up. The temperature is dropping, and the roads are getting slick.
More later.
It’s cold; there’s a light dusting of snow. The sheep came rushing out when I went into the pasture, mistakenly thinking I was bringing some hay. They have all been holed up in the Pole Barn; no snow yet on any of the sheep.
A heavy mist hung over our farm and valley; there was a beauty to it as well.
The Imperious Hens stayed in their roost when the weather turned messy, then rallied to rush out and eat some bird seeds falling out of the feeder. Then they rushed back inside. I don’t think we’ll see them again tonight.
