Today was a fractured day. I went to see the surgical podiatrist. The good news is that the ulcer on my foot is healing.
The bad news is that it isn’t yet fully healed – more surgical boots, antibiotics, bandages, no walking, moving ahead with a brace orthotic.
It could have been worse. We’re hoping the next two weeks will bring some healing. It will also severely restrict standing on my feet, walking, and being too active.
This will be a spiritual as well as an emotional test. So many people have it so much worse; I have no right to complain or pity myself, and I don’t.
Maria spent much of the afternoon at the dentist.
Since she drove me to the podiatrist, we agreed that I would sit in the waiting room until she checked her teeth. She got a straight A, and her teeth are great.
I think Willa Cather Women tend to be healthy.
I’m not going to Bishop Gibbons this week, but I will make it to my Mansion Meditation Class on Friday. Just have to hobble a bit.
I plan to meet my good and new friend John Rieger for lunch on Thursday. This will be the second time in his 50-year career selling farm supplies that he took a break for lunch.
The first was also with me.
Today was a classic November day – high winds, driving rain, cold and nasty.
I ventured out to take this photo of Maria bringing hay out to the sheep. But I can’t walk in the mud when it rains.
The B&W’s with the Leica are remarkable! Perfect for gloomy days.
