Bud has had a great coming out the past few months; he keeps evolving and weaving his way into hour hearts and the hearts of many people. His personality seems to emerge more and more by the day.
I can tell which dog is the most popular at any given moment by the number of requests I get from blog readers who want to see a photo of them.
I don’t take orders for animal pictures; I like to follow the natural order of things. But I notice the requests, and Bud has shot out way ahead of the demand for photos of Fate and Zinnia.
This doesn’t mean the other dogs aren’t loved, I know they are, but it’s interesting for me to see who is popular at any given moment. Bud is hot.
The Chairman of the Bedlam Farm Dog Treats and Scratches Committee has a growing number of fans. He amazes me as he gets safer and more comfortable, and the real Bud continues to emerge. He has a lot of character. Gus was our first small dog, but he didn’t live long.
Bud is a character now, confident, curious, loving, and full of himself.
I sometimes nap in the afternoon, and whenever I wake up, he’s in my lap (above). He’s the leader of the welcoming committee, which means me every morning when I come out of the shower, demanding a treat (below).
Bud is always at the front, barking joyously and insistently. He gets a treat along with the other two when he shuts up. They know better than to bug me. Bud doesn’t care.
Everybody sits now.
I have to admit, Bud is my fav….not gonna lie. Somehow I have never been a lab fan..thought I have known plenty. And dear Fate just doesn’t strike me as a border collie…though I know she has impeccable blood lines. Actually, my fav breeds are beagles and Keeshonds. But, I am even a bit particular about those. Keeshonds are as whip smart as a Border Collie… Beagles…well, sometimes you can find a smart one. They are just cute, to me. Though I don’t like the smash nose breeds… Bud is special for sure. I admire him as a being for what he has survived and how he is managing to put a brutal past behind him. We can all learn from Bud. I even like the fact that it has taken him a few years to work through his fears. It shows a certain quality in his character.
Tough dogs in little bodies which Iam sure you have discovered…..I have had seven of these guys and all were wonderful!
(With all due respect to your pictures of Bud), the three photos of Bud that Maria posted a couple of days ago were the best pictures of him that I’ve seen. 🙂
Mary, with all due respect back, Maria and I are not in competition regarding photos of Bud or anything else. She does many things better than I do every day of the week, and when that happens,I am only happy for her and proud of her.
P.S. Why is it that whenever anybody says “with all due respect,” you want to duck? 🙂
The story about Bud at the vet was so touching. The fact this this little guy was able to get through that experience with so much equanimity speaks worlds about how much trust he has added and added on. What a testimonial to him, and to life with you and Maria.
