In The Creative Temple, A New Quilt From Maria

by Jon Katz

I made my weekly visit to Maria’s studio this afternoon, and as always, I was surprised and delighted to see what she has been doing. Maria has grown so much as an artist and a human being that I never stop being amazed and impressed by her work.

This quilt – not yet named – was sold days ago, even before it was finished. This seems very different to me, but then I’m too close to it to have much perspective.

  1. Superb! I see some examples of what is called “crumb quilting”: using up tiny bits of fabric that once would have been discarded as useless. Well done, Maria!
