Sue Silverstein tells me the packages are arriving at Bishop Gibbons in a steady flow – old, discarded, abandoned, and forgotten jewelry hiding in attic draws and basements.
Don’t let anyone ever tell you there are not good people in our country and in the world.
The latest shipments – the UPS And FedEx trucks are loaded – came from Susan, Kenneth, Barbara, Frances, and Rigell, from Maryland, Tennessee, New York City, New Jersey, and Rochester/Utica, New York State.
Sue said her students are flocking to the art rooms to make their jewelry out of lost, broken, or forgotten jewelry from other people.
The Army Of Good is everywhere; thanks so much. The address is Sue Silverstein, Bishop Gibbons, 200 Albany Street, Schenectady, N.Y. 12304; she is also looking for old and discarded fabrics, metal pieces (for wind chimes), jewelry, and porcelains.
The jewelry bins were almost empty; thanks so much for responding.
In case you missed it, Alys Culhane of the Bright Lights Book Project in Alaska sent two boxes of books to fill Sue’s new art library. She is sending many more boxes of ELS (English as a second language) study and activity books to the Bishop Gibbons English Department to help incoming refugee students learn English.
It feels good to do good rather than argue about what good is.
Thanks so much for supporting these kids and their very dedicated teachers.
