Making The Turn. Learning How To Capture Fall, Then Winter

by Jon Katz

It’s getting cold here; we’ve started using the wood stoves. I got more responses to my flower photos than just about anything I’ve done with my photography.

I want to keep learning and growing, so I’m starting with the leaves that have begun to die.

Below is the photo of apple tree leaves I took yesterday, and this morning, I posted the image above that focuses more on the color and the light. I did some tinkering in Light Room.

I made the photo softer and brighter. I think it works, but I need to go deeper and improve on it.

I realize I need to get close, as I did with the flowers, re-imagine them, and go for their souls and spirits. Getting them at the right time light-wise is also critical.

This is a small step, more to come. I want to keep this going and take beautiful photos of challenging people in autumn and winter. Thanks for coming along with me on this journey.
