Today’s Flowers: Two Flowers, A Gorgeous Day, Some Dying Leaves, A Bumblebee, Love And Rest

by Jon Katz

We had a sweet and peaceful day, some errands, somes hopping, just the kind of day we hoped for. In the afternoon, we sat out in the chairs and read and watched the birds and talked.

I took two photos I liked and chose them as the day’s photos. I also began the process of converting to photographing autumn and then winter. It’s a big transition for me. I started this afternoon by trying to capture some of the beautiful apple tree leaves among the first to die.

I hope to make the same leap with the flowers this summer.

We can’t bring Bud out into the yard; he gets too wild around chipmunks and moles. He sits on his throne in the backyard. Zinnia and Fate love to come and sit with us. Both have been trained to stay away from the road, no matter what they see.

It’s a beautiful place to sit, well off the road, invisible from it. We bring our books, read awhile, talk a while, and even doze.

I am holing up by the wood fire to read. See you in the morning.

My first shot at autumn photography, the first dying leaves from our apple tree. Not sure about it, it’s a start.
