First, Saturday Morning At Bedlam Farm In Color. A Beautiful Weekend Waiting For Us…

by Jon Katz

I’m presenting two views of life on our wonderful farm this morning.

One, this one, will be in color. The second, which includes a visit from our Farrier, Matt Ross, will be in black and white.

It has been cloudy and rainy on and off the last few days; today is Sunny, calm, and beautiful. This weekend, we’re going to check out a new Laotian restaurant in Nearby Schuylerville.

We’re dropping off some books to people who are not feeling well. We’ll be sitting outside, meditating, talking, and reading.

Last night, our young poet friend Ian McRae came over for dinner; he is doing his first poetry reading in our town in a couple of weeks. He’s ready.

This afternoon, we’ll be ordering wood-fired pizza from the new Food Cart Shift, just down the road.

This morning, Maria made some salsa with the tomatillos she grew in our garden.

Tomorrow morning, Maria and I are going to Quaker Meeting in Easton.

The rest of the time, reading, maybe scrounging for a movie online.

The Imperious Hens were patrolling for bugs next to our statue; it looked to me like they had gone to church.

The sheep are happy to sit in the shade of our small apple tree. They were out all night grazing and will rest and chew their cuds mid-day.

I think we will sit out with the donkeys and ship this afternoon and read among them.
