Dogs At Rest. Portraits Of Dogs Who Meditate

by Jon Katz

I just realize that dogs meditate naturally and also dream. They do exactly what the monks suggest to soften fear; they find a safe and quiet place and go inward. I can almost feel them get calm.

Dogs get easily confused, but I don’t know what anxiety really means for them. I see it most often when their routines and daily habits are disrupted. I watched Fate and Bud sleeping next to one another today, and I kept thinking they were meditating.

That’s what it felt like, I’m not sure it’s possible for dogs to do that.
