Maria has just put up a bunch of Jack Russell Terriers on her Etsy Studio Page.
When other dog potholders are posted, we’ve noticed that the Jack Russell Terrier potholders (there are only a few) have been the last to go or hand on the site for a while.
I was wondering why this is so. Jack Russells are notorious for being independent, hard to train, and stubborn, Much like our Bud, who is a Boston Terrier.
The other breed of potholders flies out of the studio.
I admire their feistiness and spirit. I wonder if they are less prevalent than usual or fewer people have them.
The other potholders vary in breed; they come from vintage fabric that people gave Maria, all purebreds.
They come from a time when we viewed dogs differently. But I love the style and feel they evoke.
There is a Jack Russell terrier down the road. He is harsh and loud, and loyal. And yes, untrainable. Like Bud, he thinks he’s a dinosaur. You can see and buy the potholders here.
Our Escher is a Jack Russell/Border Collie mix. He is incredibly smart and also very stubborn. He knows commands but responds when HE chooses to thus acquiring the nick name little heathen. I swear, if a dog could flip you off Escher would be that dog. When you call him he will stop, give you eye contact and keep going. However he is loyal, and kind to other people, especially people in wheelchairs. I would love to take him to our local nursing home but he hasn’t passed his good citizen class. Maybe when he’s a few years older (he’s 4yrs old) we will try again. He is a feisty happy little guy and we love him so much!
King Charles and Camilla the Queen Consort have two Jack Russell dogs….
They also have a huge staff, including dog handlers and trainers… I love my terrier, but I wouldn’t take my lead from royal families
Jack Russell Terriers are Super Smart. They are EASY to train. You just have to be smarter than the dog.
I’m not smart enough to train a Jack Russell…I’ve tried..
