Bud is the gang leader when it comes to the morning treats. He is the committee chair and greets me when I go out of the shower and open the door.
He never begs for treats; he comes in and demands them, wagging his tail and barking loudly one or two times. If I ignore him, he goes away peacefully, but first, he lets me know it’s time for the daily treat.
He makes sure I know.
Zinnia and Fate never demand treats, they always lie up behind Bud, somewhat abashed, but they are happy to grab a treat and go off to eat it when they get one.
Bud thinks he’s a dinosaur, Zinnia believes she’s a polite mouse, and Fate only cares about one thing, getting outside to work; she is always near the door.
Bud is the board chairperson; he ensures every one of them gets their due.
I always love your dog stories and photos…. thanks for sharing ……..
You are so lucky to have dogs —- I miss mine .. probably won’t be able to have any more – at 80 now –
but loved them and blessed to have had them….
take care – get lots of rest – and enjoy your books……..
Gail
Gail, there are lots of dogs who live with 80-year-olds, dogs who have great lives with people who care for them, and are able to spend a lot of time with them, many are rescued from awful situations and live in cages. You can save a dog and add something very healthy and loving to your life.
I have many friends in their 80s who have dogs and love them and make plans for them to go to good homes if they should die or get ill. Don’t give up on it if you want to have a dog. And thanks for the good note.
Hi Jon – thanks for your note –
If it is ever possible, I will give a dog or cat a forever home who needs one –
My pets have all been rescues………
Right now , with an 89 year old husband with walking, hearing , and seeing problems is not a good time – But I won’t give up hoping for “some day” –
Take care –
Gail
I just love your doggie stories.
