The Covid Monster Surfaced This Morning. So Did A Red Begonia

by Jon Katz

As some of the Spring flowers I planted are dying off, others are popping up – like some gorgeous Red Begonias with the deepest red colors.

I was surprised to see this one this morning and ran for the camera.

I’ve been fending off Covid for nearly two weeks and doing well, but today Covid returned (it was probably never entirely gone) and smacked me around a bit.

This will happen, I’m told, on and off,  for at least a couple more weeks and possibly longer. I didn’t get the Covid lite version; I got the big one.

I am no longer infectious and can go where I please; my tests are all negative. I still can’t taste anything and am fending off the onset of coughing and congestion fits. I wore myself out at Maria’s belly dancing the other night and woke up tired and weak.

This is a part of it, and I am doing well and lucky.

My bet is tomorrow will be a lot better. I wrote a lot yesterday and today that is not affected by the virus, which is curious. But tomorrow will also be a day of rest. I took Maria out for breakfast this morning and felt the virus rearing.

She’s urging me to take the day off completely, but taking a picture or two and writing a bit is healing. It’s not work.

Besides going out for some ice cream, we’ve both been home all day. I enjoy the time to read and think; it’s done me good. I gather people my age take a little longer to get rid of the virus.

I am so much better than I was last week, and I am nothing but confident.

My day was somewhat interrupted by learning someone had hacked one of my credit cards and immediately setting off fraud alarms at the bank. Blessing them, the bank canceled the card, and there were no other mysterious charges on my account.

My bank is exceptionally vigilant, and I’ll have a new card in a few days. Sadly, this is far from unusual.

It was disturbing and annoying; it is also life in America in 2022.

  1. I had this problem as well and eventually out of desperation tried using an old bottle of colloidal silver nasal spray I had. I was kind of shocked(and so happy!) by how much it calmed everything down for me. So I got a throat spray version to use as well and that’s what got the lingering respiratory issues to finally relent for me. Just thought I’d throw that out there in case it could be helpful..

  2. Hang in there, Jon. It sounds like your immune system is fighting the good fight. Our bodies are pretty remarkable in their ability to take on invaders.

Thanks for all the gorgeous flower pictures.
