Christmas in August: The Halloween Wish List Arrives At The Mansion. County Fair Outing Tomorrow

by Jon Katz

It was Christmas in August at the Mansion this week, as a truckload of Halloween costumes, crafts, toys, and tools arrived at the Mansion.

The residents spread out all over the building to help open the packages. This took a few hours, it took USPS, UPS, and Fedex to deliver all of the packages from last weeks’ Halloween Wish List.

Another successful Wish List sold out quickly, thanks to the Army Of Good. The residents will not only have a grand Halloween bash, they are hoping to win a competition with a sister elder care facility for the best costumes.

I can’t go into the Mansion until next week, but Activities Director Bonnie English sent me these photos. Thanks, Bonnie.

The residents will start working on their Halloween festival later this week; this is the first-holiday celebration they’ve been able to have since the pandemic began.

Today, I took the longest drive yet since Covid; I went to bring a friend a book about Internet addiction; she’s having a rough time with her son.

I drove by the County Fair and am excited for the residents going there tomorrow. We rounded up transportation, got free tickets, and donated $300 for food and perhaps even rides.

Thanks to your generosity, they will have a special outing. And thanks to your generosity, they will work hard and happily on the best Halloween celebration ever. They are so excited about both.

They need both, and you made both possible—another successful Wish List for the Army of Good.

I was mulling the idea of driving there in the morning to say hello and take some pictures, but Maria threatened my life, so I quickly dropped the statement, which was foolish.

I went shopping this morning, and it went fine, but when I got home, I just crashed.

I get it. I’m saving my strength for Maria’s belly dancing performance on Thursday evening. She says she’s going, and I am confident she will. I’m going too. I’d love to keep the string going.
