Today marks a week since I first had Covid symptoms and six days since I was diagnosed. I can go out in open spaces with a mask and stay far away from other people.
I had two outings today and will write about both of them. One was a trip to the Moses Farm Stand (descendants of Grandma Moses) in Eagle Bridge, N.Y. Yes, the produce and fruit and flower stand are, in my mind, the best possible place to buy corn, vegetables, bread, cheese, and flowers.
The food is excellent, but the staff – they call themselves “the Moses Girls” are what made me eager to make a stand on my first outing in days.
They are fun to talk to. They are friendly, helpful, and love to laugh. I was laughing within five minutes of being there. They’ve put up with my picture taking before, and I am deluged with lovely messages when mentioning them or posting my picture.
They are efficient and helpful, but I think their love of work and one another is what draws me there.
Today, Marie, Dena, and Sue were working. They only want to be photographed with one another while they are performing. It suits me; that’s the right way to capture them.
I’m still sick, not mired in the famed Covid Rebound, but I can’t stand being cooped up day and night. My second outing was in the yard with Maria and the chickens. I’ll write about that also later.
It was a brief visit. I’m still wobbly, and the warm sun lays me out and makes me jelly.
But we got some excellent food for the next few days, including small melons, freshly picked corn, plums and peaches, and some fresh Mozarella cheese.
They were out of the Molasses Wheat Bread I love. The Moses Girls did it again. I felt renewed and revived, at least for a couple of hours.
The Moses Girls also inspire me. They remind me that people treated well treat customers, and those who treat them well and sell great stuff will prosper, even in rough times.
There are lessons to be learned. I thank the Moses Girls for treating me well and putting up with me. It makes me feel like a worthy human.
Time for my third nap of the day. This too, shall pass.
Next up: My Second Outing.
