Color And Light: Working On New Photos Of The Smallest Flowers

by Jon Katz

I’m working on something new this morning; I’m taking photos of the latest and smallest flowers I have in my garden. I took this one with my Leica 2.

It takes me longer to take photos of the most miniature plants, look at them, and crop them. It’s worth it.

I’m close, but I wanted to post this photo, the first one of the day that I took with my Leica. Yes, it does look like a painting; I wish I were gifted enough to paint one.

My small flowers of great beauty will be ready this afternoon.

  1. It has been several years since I have had a lavender plant with flowers on it. Yesterday to my surprise I had some. I wish that I would have taken a picture of the plant but I was so excited to have this that I cut them and bound them together to dry. The scent is magnificent! The are small and possibly something to consider for your garden??

  2. I’m sure you are gifted to paint! You are gifted to be a farmer, photographer, writer, blogger reporter journalist GardnerEtc etc etc etc. Go for it “Just do it” ?

  3. You ARE painting, Jon: just not with a brush. You paint with words and camera lens. I love this shot for its whimsical movement and colour. Very immersive and impressionist. Not easy to paint. I recently tried my hand with a comparable photo reference. Little yellow bird on cherry blossoms with some of the blossom unfocused. When it works it makes for delightful painting.
