Our Sunday Farmer’s Market got a sweet surprise today when some gifted and slightly mysterious dancers showed up to do some “Bollywood inspired” style dances from India.
They came suddenly and left after three dances to complete another four dances this afternoon at different places around the county.
The group doesn’t have a name or, since the pandemic, a studio. But the dancer’s practice virtually, rehearse whenever they can, and are exciting and stylish. They were very much in sync.
They were a joy to watch; we all wanted more.
The whole market froze and gathered in the center of the lawn to listen and look. They were great.
Unofficially, these are “Gina’s” dancers, named after their teacher Gina who taught dancing at Hubbard Hall, their former home, until the pandemic shut down all of the Hall’s classes.
They could, said one dancer, be called the “Bollywood Dancers.” Bollywood music from India inspired the lively dance we were seeing.
Gina is well known in our small town, she has been teaching dancing classes for some years, and her students perform in public every now and then and do incredible work.
Solo dancer and proud teacher.
They were a sweet surprise to see this morning.
Creativity lives and thrives even in the smallest of towns and endures all kinds of challenges, from storms to pandemics.
