Tuesday Morning, Doctors And Flowers

by Jon Katz

I’m heading to the surgical podiatrist this morning, bringing Amish cookies and donuts as usual.

They did a fantastic job helping my foot when I cut it, and there was a danger of infection.

I might stop afterward and get a pedicure, I miss them.

My foot is fine now, and I appreciate what they did for me. Because I am a diabetic, I go every six weeks to ensure things are okay.

Tomorrow, I see the pulmonologist checking how I’m going with my sleep apnea.

He is a data man, like many male doctors, and the data is good: before the mask, my breathing stopped 80 times an hour. Now it’s topping 1.7 an hour. Good for me, good for my heart.

Sometimes the data thing works.

I went out to the garden this morning, thinking I might be running out of beautiful photos to take, but it is different every time I go out there, and I find more pictures than I can put up on the blog.

I’ll stop at the Millers to pick up my cookies and donuts. Our friendship is cruising along.

I see Moise and the family four or five times a week; we are in a good place.

Moise and I have done some negotiating and we are both comfortable with where we are.

(Another truckload of art supplies arrived at Bishop Gibbons yesterday; the truck was filled with boxes. Thank you all for supporting this school.)

The Zinnias are unstoppable, and they just keep coming in the most impressive forms and colors.

I’m re-organizing my garden beds, time to get rid of some dying flowers and add some new ones so there will be flowers until the Fall.

  1. HI Jon,
Thank you so much for taking and posting the flower photos! I especially love the close ups with the light shining through them. The colors shift in such beautiful and often subtle, but dramatic, ways! They are very inspirational to me and, being a fan of Georgia O’keeffe also, they also encourage my own painting.
