Hail to the Army Of Good, the first wave of art supplies from our Bishop Gibbons Wish List last week has arrived today at the high school in Schenectady.
The wish list, posted to support Sue Silverstein’s new art program at her new school, sold out in hours.
Thank you all; the Army Of Good has arrived at the school with a big bang to celebrate our presence and determination to do some good for the refugees and other students at the school.
Bishop Gibbons is not in session right now, and Sue Silverstein will be awful busy unloading the supplies and organizing the eight spaces available in her basement art room. Some of her students have volunteered to help.
I’ll be there next Thursday to check on things and hopefully see and speak with a student.
I’m keeping Zinnia home during the heat wave.
This photo lifts my heart, as I hope it raises your art is so essential to these students; it stimulates their creativity and imagination, gives them a therapeutic outlet for their memories and worries, and gives Sue a chance to get to know them.
They love doing artwork in her classes; they proudly show their artwork to their parents and submit them for awards. This work would not be possible without your generosity and commitment.
Thanks, Army of Good, for coming through again. And again.
Love this photo, and article…not just because it portrays the generosity of the Army of Good, but because it also illustrates how most teachers do not ‘have summers off’. Thanks for keeping us posted on the ‘new’ school!
