Color And Light Report, July 4, 2022. My Growing Garden

by Jon Katz

Color is a power which directly influences the soul.” – Wassily Kandinsky.

It’s lovely to go out in my garden every morning and see some seed popping out of the grown or some beautiful flower opening up.

I think my first bouquet will be ready early next week; the first bouquet will go to Barbara Miller, my Amish neighbor up the road.

The photos are a mix, some with the Iphone 13, some with the Leica 2.

(The first poppy opening up.)

The two surprises this morning were the begonia, above, perhaps one of the most beautiful flowers I have ever seen, and then a poppy popping up out of the soil.

There was a second zinnia today, and the first one is flapping its wings.

I can’t wait to get out there every morning.

A second zinnia opened up this morning. It is beautiful to follow these flowers as they open and develop. It is hypnotic for me to see.

The first Zinnia, my first flower of 2022, is a beauty. I love the shade of pink.

I bought Maria this flower yesterday at the farmer’s market. It’s a foxglove.

The Nasturtiums are the gift that keeps on giving. There is a beautiful new one every day.

  1. If you think begonias are beautiful flowers, you should check out peonies! However, begonias will bloom all summer, while peonies (mine, at least), are one shot in the spring. But what a wonder while they are happening.

  2. Lovely flowers, Jon. Your Foxglove will re seed themselves if you allow it. You’ll have plenty more next year!
Your Nasturtiums are so cheery-mine have been eaten to the ground by deer unfortunately. So I’ll have to enjoy
    yours….
