Our officious, industrious and somewhat pompous hens are a favorite picture of mine, their color stands out against almost anything.

One woman wrote and suggested we diversity the hens and get some that are not white.

Maria had the same idea, but we think we have enough animals to care for now. Maybe next time. When it’s hot two of the chickens  – Kitty and Anne  – make their headquarters the opening in the bottom of the big apple tree.

They seem quite content there.
