Trimming Hooves: We Don’t Need To Tie Them Up Any More

by Jon Katz

Our donkeys love our farrier Matt Rose, and they love Maria.

They are sweet and gentle creatures, and we no longer even tie them to the outer gate to keep them still. Fanny practically crawls into Matt’s lap, and Lulu loves to have her neck and backside scratched.

We don’t need to tie them up so they can’t wander or run. They don’t want to do either.  Donkeys know who to trust and who not to trust. They can smell our intentions.
