Flowers For The Mansion. A Small Act Of Great Kindness

by Jon Katz

The Army of Good has several core values. One is the idea of focusing our work on small acts of great kindness. We aren’t wealthy; we can’t solve or fix the world’s problems.

But we can make individual lives and experiences a lot better.

We can give the Bishop Maginn students the prom they have dreamed of; we can put flowers on the dining room tables of the Mansion and brighten the lives of its residents, who crave color and light in their lives.

I can’t tell you how grateful the Mansion residents are for the flowers on their tables; I can’t remember being so effusively praised for things we have done in recent months.

What a treat to bring so much joy to so many people at such a small expense. It costs me about $100 every three or four weeks to put 12 fresh flower bouquets (in Mason Jars) on the Mansion dining room tables.

Thanks for helping me to do that.
