Like some of you, I often stop to photograph this lovely tree, which sits on the boundary of two pastures, with several trees behind it in a line.
This morning, I wanted to test the Leica 2 with this tree. I put a yellow UF filter on the camera to screen the very bright sun; the Leica struggles with lots of light.
The image was softer and gentle; the Iphone photo was beautiful but looked a bit harsh to me. The blue was very strong and the digital images very sharp.
The Iphone 13 has a terrific camera in it, great for landscapes. But I liked the gentleness, the softness of the Leica 2.
Each is very good at what it does, but the Leica is unique and I am learning when to use it.
Jon, Do your Leica images remind you more of film than digital? On my computer, they seem that way. Soft and easy on the eyes.
Yes true, Lisa..I never shot with film, so it’s a new idea but it makes perfect sense..The leica softens
I think you would have to take the same photo, at the same time of day and back to back, with both cameras to really compare the two cameras. Both are good photos here.
I don’t quite agree, Don, I’m not looking for that kind of literal comparison, more the feel of the photos. I have no idea what precise time the photos were taken, not important to me. What matters is that the Leica has more of a film look, I see, and the Iphone is more precise and literal. That’s what I wanted to see. Generally, the Leica 2 photos are gentler than most digital cameras, is the best way I can describe it. Both are good photos, and both are good cameras, I already know that, but I’m intrigued at the different feel of the pictures.
