More and more refugees are arriving from Afghanistan and Ukraine, in addition to the families that are in the Bishop Maginn Family. Inflation and food supply issues are causing hardship and concern.
A tremendous pallet of food was delivered to Bishop Maginn by Walmart, yesterday. It had been sent to the wrong place and could not be displayed or sold.
I’m not at liberty to say how it got there, but Sue Silverstein got in touch with social workers and community groups right away, and the food is being distributed to families who need it.
Because of Covid, Sue has not been able to distribute the breakfast and snacks she was giving to students who showed up hungry.
This surprise gift is a great boon for the refugee families and for their children
More good news for the school this morning, Maria and I picked up four huge bags stuffed with beautiful prom dresses and gowns; we’re bringing them to the school Tuesday.
I was slow to grasp the significance of these gowns, being an old male fart, but the girls at the school were wildly excited. Tania Woodward, a friend, and an aide at the Mansion has been collecting them and donated them to the school. She is an angel. I’m writing another post about that, along with photos, but today already feels very good.
