Our animals tend to be snooty and spoiled. We buy the best hay available, but once there is grass growing, they turn their noses up at it. They want the real thing. We’ve started rotational grazing and they are getting grass three times a day.
Two of the sheep and the donkeys come back to the feeders to polish off whatever hay is still there or is lying on the ground. They have a kind of annoying air about them and complain vocally – why can’t they eat the grass.
But animals are also realistic – why waste good hay if it is lying around? I don’t miss the Manure Mountain. The pictures look a lot better.
