Twenth New Bulbs For My Raised Garden Beds

by Jon Katz

I lost patience and went out and planted 20 bulbs in my garden beds. My three garden advisers all said it was safe to plant them now as long as they had a few inches of dirt to cover them.

If it got near freezing, they said, throw a tarp over the beds and the bulbs will be fine.

I wish I could tell you which flowers I planted, but my Dyslexia makes it difficult for me to sort through and remember the names. I’ll know what they are when they come up. There are hundreds of people reading the blog who can and will help me identify them.

I planted them carefully, smaller flowers in front, the bigger ones in the back. I left plenty of room for the seeds I’ll wait to plant the seeds until Memorial Day has come and gone. We are slipping into the safe zone, but it would not surprise me if we got another round of snow and frost at night. If so, we are ready with tarps and covering.

I love having these three carts and I have a wicker basket full of seeds I’d been saving and ordering all year. I want the beds to be a color right. I soaked all the bulbs in water and covered them up snugly.
