I am pleased to be taking photos of flowers again, even when I don’t know their names. I do know this is some kind of Lilly, which is apparently incorrect, and several good people have been kind enough to send me the correct name, which I promptly forgot.
I went back and found the post from Marianna – I get a lot of mail – I know flower people are much into names.
She wrote: “Jon, the flower is an Alstroemeria, common name Peruvian lily, however, it is not a lily. Many flowers with a common name of lily, are not lilies, their shape reminds people of lilies, hence they are given the common name of something lily. For example, Hemerocallis a.k.a. daylily. This flower lasts a long time in a vase.”
This is good to hear because it’s one of the flowers that is going to the Mansion and the longer it lives, the longer the table bouquets last.
I will be honest, I don’t remember the names of flowers and something in me balks at trying. I just love to take photos of them.
I like to look at them and know them by color. I’m not good at remembering any kind of names, and I sometimes blame the Dyslexia for this, but if I’m being truthful, it doesn’t matter to me.
There are a lot of things bouncing around in my head, but the names of flowers don’t want to be there.
It is good to know what they are called, although I will never in a million years remember the name Alstroemeria, I admire Marianna for knowing and thank her for writing me. And for those of you who do care, I’ll try to share the names when I learn of them if I can.
The flowers don’t know your name either, though they recognize you by your energy field as safe and good.
Thanks, I do love to grow them and take care of them..
Jon, I do not have dyslexia, and I do not remember plant names and now that I am 87 yrs. Young I am having trouble remembering the names of people. The people problem is due to having to wear masks and I do not see the face the way I should. So this is not a dyslexia problem. Akso, I refuse to believe it is old age,
Good for you, Eunice, I admire you.
