Some Kind Of Lilly: A New Week

by Jon Katz

I took this still life of some kind of Lilly, I loved the detail and am eager to start taking photos of flowers. This one went to the Mansion yesterday.

This morning, I’m off to pick up a new small raised garden bed, I’m getting ready for a summer full of beautiful flowers. I’m going to the gym for a brief workout, and then home to write and help Maria patch up a section of the fence where Kim, one of our sheep got her head stuck over the weekend while trying to reach for a bush on the other side.

Back later. I’m excited about this week. We are already planning for our four-day vacation which starts next Sunday. We need a vacation badly, we both know it.

Right now I have several things cooking on the stove – chickpeas, a new kind of grain, some barley.

More later.

  1. John, that is a lovely photo, and this question is off topic, but in case I missed it, how is the chicken doing?

  2. Jon, the flower is an Alstroemeria, common name Peruvian lily, however, it is not a lily. Many flowers with a common name of lily, are not lilies, their shape reminds people of lilies, hence they are given the common name of something lily. For example, Hemerocallis a.k.a. daylily. This flower lasts a long time in a vase.
