Waiting For Friends

by Jon Katz

Between the pandemic and the winter, we saw very little of our friends. We are getting the yard in order to receive visitors, this is a lovely place to sit in the Spring and Summer.

The new Amish-built Adirondack chair is ready, and I might buy another one. We are waiting for the friends who will soon be sitting in those chairs with us. Spring is no longer just around the corner.

It is here. I love the changes of the seasons and could not live in a place that didn’t have them in so distinct a way. Life is not just one thing, but many things.

  1. My dad was Australian and was stationed in Montreal during the war. He met and married my mum and they decided to stay in Canada. He always loved the very distinct seasons which he had not experienced before.
